Collegial boutique trust and estates law firm in Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced tax accountant/tax preparer to assist in tax preparation and estate administration. This position is a part-time position from May through January and a full-time position from February through April and/or during peak tax season. Will consider flexible work hours depending on candidate's needs.
Essential functions include:
Preparing forms 1040, 1041, PA-40, PA-41 and possibly tax returns for other states;
Preparing financial statements, reports and/or spreadsheets, as requested;
Utilizing tax programs, tax return preparation software and tax research software; ProSystem fx software experience a plus;
Reviewing fiduciary accountings; and
Working on highly confidential client matters.
Education and Experience:
Preferred BA / BS in business, finance, accounting or related discipline;
Advanced degree or CPA license a plus;
Minimum of three (3) years of professional work (tax preparation) experience required;
Registered tax preparer with active PTIN a plus; and
Law firm, accounting firm or trust department experience a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working and practical knowledge of accepted accounting rules and practices, tax laws and reporting requirements;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word;
Experience preparing forms 706, 709, PA Rev-1500, 990-PF a plus;
Demonstrated analytical abilities, including problem solving and decision making;
Ability to multi-task;
Possess strong organizational skills; and
Willingness to learn and acquire new skills.
